Who Should Control Outer Space?

by Greg Miller
Investigative Journalist

The use of outer space is already controlled through various treaties. One specific treaty is the Outer Space Treaty under the United Nations. It basically regulates the domination of space, in that; any exploitation of outer space should be done in the best interest for mankind. It prohibits destructive purposes and promotes peaceful interest. However, enforcement of such a treaty can be uncertain since there are no major examples outside the arm race. If a dominate nation pursues their own interest outside the good for mankind, then, it will be determined by the United Nations and supporting countries to enforce this treaty. The United Nations and dominate nations should control outer space so long it is for the peaceful purpose of mankind.
