Vehicle Accident Sends Child to Trauma Center

PARIS, IL-A 9 year old child was airlifted to Riley Hospital, Indianapolis following a collision with a 19 year old driver. The 9 year old, Kenton Rinesmith, sustain numerous trauma injuries to the head, organs, pelvis and legs.

The driver, James Alden, of Paris, was traveling south bound on Hunter St. and struck the child full force as the child was riding a bicycle, leaving the alleyway, resulting dragging the bicycle approximately 37 feet.

Paris Police Officer, Officer James Ealy, who investigated the crash, stated Alden was traveling above the 30 MPH speed limit.

According to calculations made at the crash scene, it appears the vehicle was traveling between 39 and 45 MPH zone.

A witness at the accident had seen Alden walking away from the scene but later returned just prior to emergency services arriving.

No arrests were made and no citations were issued.
