Terre Haute, IN Police Officer Laid to Rest

TERRE HAUTE, INDIANA – Terre Haute Police Officer Brent Long was laid to rest today after being killed during an incident on 8th Avenue in Terre Haute on July 11, 2011. Officer long, along with other Terre Haute police officers attempted to serve an felony arrest warrant. Officer Long and his K-9 partner, Shadow, were both shot by the suspect. Terre Haute police officers returned fire and killed the suspect. This is the first time since 1984 that a Terre Haute was killed in the line of duty. Shadow was treated for injury and survived the incident.

This year alone, 99 police officer in the United States were killed in the line of duty.

The funeral was held at the Hulman Center where thousands attended. Police officers from Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky and Michigan paid their respects to Officer Long and his family. During the emotional funeral, Long’s fellow officers said he was a motivated officer who has an exceptional record of public service for the community.

Brent Long (36) was laid to rest at the Mount Pleasant Cemetery. His wife, son and daughter survived. His call to duty and devotion to his family will never be forgotten.

    Laws to prohibit lying to officers or in court should once more be considered perjury

    All should work to make that happen.
    Liars in court steal land, personal property,to prevent paying child support, and also lead to murder, child abuse, battery. financial loss and gain, and the list goes on
